MASTEK PAPER ON 2nd APRIL 2008

hi frns, tryin my bit to help all u guys n gals appearing for MASTEK placement….

APTITUDE: 2 hrs

6 SECTIONS:

1) C++
15 questions.
More than half were conceptual for example: Which of the following statements are true:

I)Destructors can have arguments. F

II)Destructors can be overloaded. F

III)…..

IV)….so on

Another example: Can friend functions be calld using pointer to pointer functions? Ans: NO

What is the default access specifier for an inheritance? Ans: Private
Lotsa questions on INHERITANCE concepts……

2) RDBMS
·15 questions.
· Some were conceptual, some were very general and others were kinda queries. For eg: which type of join is not used commercially?
Ans: Inner Join

Then….Definition of 3NF was given and we had to find which normalization was it representing. Read up all of the Joins…i.e Natural,outer,left outer,right outer etc. This section is not very difficult if you know the basic fundas of DBMS…no need to go in depth…

3) PROGRAMMING ABILITY
· 15 questions
· Either we had a question, codes as the options and choose the right one..for eg: to find prime nos frm 1 to 100 which of the following code is correct. 4 options were given….
A pattern of output is given say
0
0 1 0
0 0 1 2 0 0….so on and 4 codes as options, choose the correct. The catch here was only abt the format and not the logic in most cases…..in this case…..der were two exactly similar option the only difference being a PRINTLN statement after every output in one of them….so dats the correct one!!!
Or There were questions with loops starting frm I=0 upto I=50 and we had to find the value of sum variables used in the for loop after the execution…again the catch here was u neednt have to go thru the loop 50 times during the dry run…..u tend to get a kind f sequence when u do the dry run for abt 5-6 times and den u apply ur quant abilities and get the answer….
Some of the options in d code had simple SYNTACTICAL errors and were to be striked off as wrong….so u din have to actually dry run sum codes at all…!!!

4)      VERBAL
·        15 or 20 questions
·        It was very simple…..choose correct alternative/best word that suits the sentence, simple synonyms and 2 reading comprehension which were technical related topics….for instance We got one on Microprocessors and another on Multithreading so I dint have to read the passage at all to anwer the question….

5)      ANALYTICAL/QUANT
·        15 questions
·        Very simple. Two questions were based on Venn Diagrams and one on sequences while a few others on Logical Reasoning. A bit of RS agarwal and a cool mind is enuf to clear this.

6)      CASE STUDY
·        5 questions
·        There was a case study given on Stacks:
Ram,Ravi and Nithya in one class and 3 other students (names I don’t remember) in another class. Their weights were given in kgs. You have to place them in two separate stacks such that the weight of the person on the top of stack is the lowest.
There were 5 very simple questions on the stack implementation for this scenario. If there is a Case Study section, please do attempt it.

There was a sectional cut-off and most of whom were selected in the aptitude got placed. Take care and all the best….

Mastek Question Paper Pattern

Mastek Campus Placement in Fr.CRIT (Agnels), Vashi on 8th July 2008

Overview:

1) Aptitude
3) GD
2) HR Interview. No Technical Interview.

I am Yeshodhan S Kulkarni. I had attended the Mastek Campus Placement in Fr.CRIT (Agnels), Vashi on 8th July 2006. Around 90 students had atended. 9 cleared the aptitude. GD is there if more students clear the aptitude. There was no GD. 5 got selected in HR. They had a presentation for 1 and 1/2 hour. After the presentation they immediately started with the Aptitude. The Package was aroung 2.66 Lacs Per Annum.

The Mastek Question Paper pattern is as follows:

80 questions 80 minutes.
0.25 negative marking.
Each subsection consists of 10 Questions.
No sectional cutoff.

4 Sections

Section 1: Logical
There are 2 subsections in this section.
1.1 This is simple arithmatical logic.
1.2 Logical Venn Diagrams..few statements are given the you have to deduce the Venn Diagram for those statements.
(Refer RS AGGARWAL VERBAL REASONING)

Section 2: Verbal Abilities
There are 2 subsections:
2.1 Verbal Inference.
In this section, a statement is given. From the options, you have to find out the most similar in meaning to the one given.
(Similar to CAT Verbal pattern)
2.2 Passage and Question & Answers.

Section 3: Flowchart.
2 flowcharts were given in this section. The flowcharts were incomplete. They give the objective of the flowchart that tells exactly what the flowchart is for. You have to fill up the boxex that are incomplete. Incomplete boxes are numbered. You have to select an option for that particular number.

Flowchart 1: Print Prime Nos from 1 to 100. (I wasted most of my time here)
Flowchart 2: Find the largest no. from given numbers. (Go for this one first its easy I heard)

Section 4: Quantitative Aptitude
3 Subsections:
4.1 A bit difficult quants questions from RS AGGARWAL. If you do it properly, its easy.
4.2 & 4.3 were also from RS AGGGARWAL. Very easy sections.

Tips:

Guys, although I didnt clear, actually I didnt knew how was the paper going to come rather I didnt knew the the pattern. I had stressed more in Antonyms and Synonyms in which I was very strong. But didnt knew it wasnt there in this apti. So, dont prepare these for Mastek.

1) The answer sheet is quite confusing. So mark each answer properly.
2) Solve the Quants Section first. Its damn easy.
3) Attempt the flowchart section at last.
4) Once you get the question booklet, dont get baffeled. You have to turn a lot of pages. So be prepared for that mentally.

I didnt clear the Aptiude, so dont know anything about the HR.
Mastek is a very good company guys. Dont miss it.

for sec 3)
1. what is an inode in unix?
2. small program in pascal to add a node to a linked list. (You have to tell what the program does)
3. C strcmp program (You have to tell what the program does)
4. set of dos commands testing basic familiarity with dir, ren *.t?t, cd etc.
5. what is the order of binary search?
6. what is the order of strassens matrix multiplication?
7. you have to maintain the sorted order of integers and insert integers . which data structure would you use? (tree, list, queue, array?)
8. There are two lists of integers to be merged. Which method would you not use?

MASTEK PAPER ON 6th JULY AT MUMBAI

hi frns,
dis is MILESH.i got thru in MASTEK after failing 5 companies prior 2 mastek and dis d 6th one brought me mental satisfaction.dat memorable day was 6th july 2007 in k.j.somaiya(vidyavihar) wen i got thru.

guys i jus need 2 mention a simple fact : jus leave behind all ur failures and jus remember ur goin better & learnin after every failure.rite so cheer up frns & concentrate henceforth.

selection criteria was above 58 percent widout any backlogs. stages:

1 General aptitude test

2 Technical interview

3 HR interview

GENERAL APTITUDE TEST:

MASTEK paper was almost a repetitive paper of previous year.ppl u’l find it in ‘freshersworld’. remeber answer sheet was very confusing so better b careful while markin ur ans. now paper was of 3 major sections.

section 1:

dere were 2 subsections containin series questions and simple elementary maths.

section 2:

dere were 3 subsections containin 1 RC(READG COMPREHENSN),1 relations question(a different question wich u’l find only in MASTEK apti –very,very easy.

1 subsection of FLOWCHARTS .DERE WERE 2 FLOWCHARTS wich u need 2 decode and den ans five questions per flowchart.(challenging subsection.i will advice u 2 attempt dis at d end)

section 3:

pure mathematics questions (total 20 questions)

pls do prepare TIME,WORK,PROFIT-LOSS,PERCENTAGES,AGESdats more dan enough from R.S.AGARWAL.

frns u mus b thinking dat in section1 also I mentioned some maths ques bt dise ques r very-very simple and most of d ques can b solved using common sense.

Total dere r 70 ques(20,30,20) in 70-75 mins. Negative marking of 0.25, No sectional cut-offs

Remember overall cut-off is very-very high approx. 65% .pls b very careful while marking ur ans.bt remember paper is very-very simple.a good logical and cool mind will definitely crack it.

Around 200 students appeared; of dose shortlisted candidates from apti were only 69.jus chk out d selection and cut-off.

I was 1 of dem and den came d next step of technical interview.My chance came at 4:30pm .

TECHNICAL INTERVIEW:

MASTEK is known for its tech.intervw.so first step is study ur resume well.u shuld b able 2 ans all ques arising from ur resume. Be very careful wid ur technical skills and project dat u’ve appended in ur resume.

Let me share wid u all my intervw

My tech intervw lasted for 90 mins(long time na……….). First 15 mins was a kind of HR. Den d game begin.

D interviewer was very chilled out in casuals.he asked me abt my WT PROJECT and specially my contributn in dat project. I was able 2 ans him well.

He den asked me “ wat have u learnt from dese 3 years of engg.?”

I answered “ sir, as d engg studies r theoretical so v students r not into practical aspect of d subjects studied much derefor trainin phase is very imp.i have learnt 2 manage myself and 2 handle stress well in dese years.”( quite a diplomatic ans bt wen u’l read further u’l get 2 kno how I was stress interviewed……….)

Den he asked me a question wich was a kind of project 2 me. The ques was if 1 clicks url of reliance den 1 shuld get d required data. Actually ques was very complicated bt I was able 2 debug only dis part of d ques.i asked him2 grant me sum time & he den came aftr 15 mins.

I explained dynamic pages concept 2 him. Lukin his expressn I learnt dat he’s not convinced. I thought I’l b kicked out of mastek so I from my side brought 2 his notice dat I kno C,C++,DATA STRUCTURES well. U can consider dis as a very bold gutsy move from my side bt d situatn demanded dis.

Den he asked me wich is d best soting method?

I answered HEAP SORT

I explained heap sort wid an example 2 him.

Den he asked me 1-2 difficult ques wich I culdnt remember as I didn’t ansd dem..he was generous enough coz he gav me 20 mins 2 ans dem bt I was unable 2 do so.

Den he told me dat my score is negative, here came my strong points jus pay attention further.

I told him dat since heap sort is creatin problem so we’l choose quick sort and began explainin dat 2 him.

He told me dat am good at marketing and was persuading me 2 go for MBA and not IT BACKGROUND.bt here came my real test and strictly told him dat am NOT plnnin for mba( jus don’t reveal ur further studies plan 2 dem-never.if u reveasl den sure u’l b rejectd). I told him dat since I am doin my engg in computers so want 2 b an IT PROFESSIONAL for initial part of my career and since every companies inclusive of IT requires marketing. Dis was a smart ans and den he asked me 2 leave.

After cumin out I felt dat mayb il b rejected.bt after 10 mins 2 my surprise he himself came out and told me dat I’v 2 go thru 1 more intervw and asked me 2 wait in dat special room itself. D volunteers told me d guys whor thru for next round r only allowed 2 wait here in dis special place. I den felt much better and much confident for next round.

It was 6:15pm . I had nothing from d morning bt thnx 2 volunteers who gave some biscuits.i was made 2 wait for 2 hrs at a stetch and at 8:20 I was called for HR intervw.

HR INTERVW:

INTERVWER was a young, beautiful lady.

She was very-very strong in her English and had n anglo-indian accent.

Den came first ques:

I saw u waitin for quite a long time. How r u feelin now?

Ans: feelin perfect. For me job cums first.

She broke me and told datdis is wrong attitude ur life is far more imp dan job.

Den I told her dat I want gud job for better secured future.

Den she told me dat don’t giv me diplomatic ans ,I want concrete ans from u.

I was den a bit nervous bt I kept myself calm and brought myself back 2 track.

Q:Y computers?

I explained d difference btwn COMPS AND IT 2 HER.(ANS:COMPUTERS deals wid both HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE while IT only deals in software.iwas fascinated from my 10th std wid computers and wanted 2 kno each & every integral hardware in computer)

Q; Wat is hardware?

I explained it properly 2 her.

Q: wat d first thng u’l do after leavin dis room?

I told her I’l first pack my bag and den I’l have sumthng.

Q: wat new technologies u kno?

I explained her abt BLUERAY DISCS IN detail( blue ray discs r latest discs wid a memory capacity of 4-8 gb).den she broke me in between and asked me

Q: how u keep urself updated?

I told her dat thru newspapers,tv and computers.

Q: wich sites u search for technologies?

I told her dat no special sites as such I jus search on google

Q: wat u kno abt mastek.i mean abt its lates projects?

I explained her abt mastek dat I culd remember and mentioned her abt mastek’s LRR PROJECT(BIGGEST . NET PROJECT being workd upon london ’s congestn and traffic)

Guys pls attend d ppt(pre-placemt talk well and note d imp points. Dis is imp step for any company and not only for mastek)

Q: y mastek shuld hire u?

( dis ans of mine is 1 of d most famous ans in my college)

ans: I asked how a fresher is absorbd in a company and wat happens in d trainin phase. Is he/she is supervised by any supervisor.

She answered dese ques .den came another ques from my side

I asked “ if an employee is not gud in technical and if he’s gud in marketing or other stuff den wat opportunities d cmpny provides ?

She answered.den atlast I stopped and was asked 2 leave.

( warning: don’t ask many ques like me. Jus ask a simple plain ques widout afectng d prestige of d organizatn and never ever discuss wid d interviewer. )

dis interview lasted for 35-40 mins. Den after 10 mins I was given d news of my life thru an volunteer dat I was selected. It was 9:20 pm

Den at 9: 40 I was called for verification of my certificates. Den at 10 pm I was awarded wid n offer letter. Total 26 got placed on 69 shortlisted candidates. By god’s grace I was 1 of dem.

Guys jus b wat ur are. Jus b self-confident .dont cross d thin line of confidence and overconfidence. Guys jus follow d instns and dis was all dat I can share……………….

Hi friends………… Mastek is very good company & give ur best 2 be a MASTEKEER.
Total 80 questions,no sectional cutoff, -ve marking 0.25 marks
1] Aptitude

3] Personal interview

1] Aptitude:
this section consist of 3 sub sections such as logical, mathematics,verbal
logical is very very easy. maths is bit tougher than logical , but if u have gone through R.S. Agarwal then no problem at all. 1st solve logical section, after that solve maths section. dnt attempt Question on flow chart they r confusing and time consuming so go 4 flow chart Q only if time permitts .

verbal section is not that easy as other 2 sections. questions such as choose appropriate phrase and questions on passage were there. passage was very lengthy. so i suggest go 4 tis section after solving logical & maths section but solve this b4 solving flow chart questions.

2] Technical interview
my interviewer was very friendly.interview lasted for 45 min . mastek is mainly looking 4 your logical thinking and programing skill.as i am from ECE questions were based on C for CSE students questions on JAVA were asked, he asked me questions such as
1) write prog 4 swapping using TEMP variable and also using pointers
2) questions on functions , call by value , call by referance
3) syntax
4) questions on array , pointers etc etc…..
5) then some questions based on 8085
6) 1 easy prog on 8085 such as swaping , avg of 5 no
7) gave 2 puzzles 2 solve. puzzles r 4m shakuntala devi
he asked me lots of questions on project. be prepared
after long 45 min of my life i was quite confident . i was able 2 ans his all questions he was very impressed .be confident while answering and maintain eye contact & dnt try 2 fool interviewer. if u dnt knw any ans then say i am sorry sir nt able 2 recall ans.

3] personal interview:
interviewer was quite rude after all he was doing his job. interview was stress interview questions such as
1)tell me something abt u which u havnt mentioned in resume,
2) why ur % r decreasing
3) why software field?
4)present ur thoughts on poverty and reservations
5) and many other general questions
interview lastd for 45 min, was looking 4 confidence and communication skill 350 students appeared for aptitude, 37 for interviews and finally they selected only 7 this was my 1st interview m so happy now.best of luck friends

FLEXTRONICS INTERVIEW PATTERN ON 18th SEPTEMBER 2008

I hv attended flextronics interview process..written was in 10th sept nd intrv was in 18th Sept….

b4 going 2 intrv u shld prepare urself very well in ur project…dey ii ask almost all the questions
from ur project…dey also ask u to do c programs such as sorting, fibonnaci series..simple data structure programs….networking (ARP RARP, layers of OSI nd their protocols, diff bwt udp nd tcp nd y tcp most preferred, ip adressing etc..lots of questions from networking dey ll ask.

Be confident..dnt try 2 outsmart dem..dey knows everything mind it everything… prepare ur project very well…wen u write programs make it sure that it ll run by giving input and show dem the result dey like it dat way 1nly.

Mine intrv was more den 1 hr (TECHNICAL 1nly)..but others were finished with in 15 mints (TECHNICAL ND HR)…b consistent in ur ans..u might b hvng 2 rounds of technical…bcoz wat u hv said in 1st round dat ll b transmitted 2 the 2nd round also..dont know how they did dat….newaz im again saying prepare ur project very well..otherwise it ll hit u back very badly…prepare 1nly module of ur project ..dey ll ask from dat 1nly….ok..

HR round is a formality 1nly…bt still it has some influence in ur selection..dey ll sum total ur Technical round score as well as ur HR round score…collect some data abt Flextronics (its 1st settlement in india, its ceo nd awards nd achievemnts) make it sure u hv some technical nd non technical questions ready nd ask dem wen dey ll ask “do u hv ne questions???”try 2 pick some good ones…(dnt worry abt the difficulty of the questions…dey ll hv 2 ans)..newaz best of luck….

FLEXTRONICS PAPER & INTERVIEW ON 14th AUGUST 2008

Hi Frnds,

Here is the pattern of Flex on 14 July ‘08. I don’t remember all the questions.

SECTION 1 - Verbal
It includes very simple english. 3 questions on the correct usage of a, an, the, for, to. (15 questions in 10 minutes). It was very easy. Key is to be calm and attempt it. I was able to complete in 7 mins.

SECTION 2 - APTITUDE
3 pattern matching questions like 3 digits are given and find out which 3 are similar. Then general maths like if * is replaced by -, - is replaced by + , + is replced by / and / is replaced by *. then whcih is true.
The only good questions from this sections was
—There is a red cube and it is cut into 12*12*12 small cubes. Now corner columns of front face is taken out and remaining structure is painted black. Now 5 questions were there to calculate no of cubes having 1,2,3 red faces and 1,2,3 black faces.

SECTION 3 — RC
A passage on USB was given. It was taked from howstuffworks.com. As I was having good knowledge of USB, I did 8 of 10 questions without having a look on passage and rest 2 were also easily answered.

SECTION 4 — ENGLISH (Don’t remember the heading)
It was having very easy general english. At end there was a RC on SQL. RC was very easy and I was able to answer without even reading it.

SECTION 5 — TECH (They gave choice between C and C++/OS)
I selected C as there was no added benefit for taking the tough paper. 20 questions in 20 mins. Questions were of particular cases.
Though some were very easy but around 10 of them were like that you can’t apply general rules to them. You should be aware of what happenes in that particular case.

SECTION 6 — E-Mail writing
You are tech executive of a telecom company. You are known for your excellent customer services. One customer has written that ha is facing problems. He also wrote ealier and got no response. Write an email to him apaologizing for that and offering him support.

Tech Interview - 1
It was for 1 hour and 1 mins. At the very begining he gave me 12 C questions and asked me to write the output. Meanwhile He asked me other topic pf my interest. I said networking. As I did 11 correct he delayed the discussion of the wrong answered question to last. He jumped to Networking. What I noticed was that the more you tell them, the more they will go to depth. For my case, He asked the difference between Hubs, Switches, Routers. Also gave 12 protocols and asked me to match them to OSI Model. Then he asked the indepth working of IP, ARP, RARP. Then he asked the indepth processing when you have got a new computer and what happens when you try to contact yahoo.com. In depth means that getting IP from DHCP then working of DHCP, how all 7 layers are involved, then how frame moves to router. He even jumped to routing protocols and there working.

I don’t know why he went to so depth with me. Others were limited to C. But that was a must. (1h, 15mins)

Tech Interview - 2
He again asked networking but with much more depth. They were having excellent coordinations. The second tech interviewer was having even the rough sheets of mine from 1st tech interview. May be he wanted to test dpeth of knowledge. I answered first 2 questions and then he asked me 4 terms that I never heard. I said I don’t know. Then he asked me to write 2 progs. in C
1. There are arranged nos from 1 to 10 in an array and 1 number is replaced by 0. Find it.
2. Use bit wise operators to find whether a number is power of 2 or not?
(45 mins)

HR Interview
If you have cleared earlier 2 rounds then it is just a formality. It was just of 10 mins having general questions about educational background, why you wanna join Flex etc…

selection process….

1)writtn test (it was bit tough)

2) 2 rounds of technical interview

3) HR

WRITTEN TEST:

1. english grammer type -> 15 questions, 10 Q r like normal grammar very easy , last 5 r passage reading types very easy ( 15 MIN TIME)

2. ANALYTICAL -> 20 questions in 20 min, questions like

SET THEORY PROBLEMS, AND

one QUESTION followed by statement 1: something and statement 2: something

options: QUESTION CAN BE ANSWERED BY USING 1ST STATEMENT or 2ND or BOTH TYPE…….

THIS SECTION WILL BE EASY

3. GENERAL APTITUDE -> 20 questions , bit tough , time consuming, CUBE PROBLEMS r important , i dont know any material for this , i just used my knowledge ( guessd in fact) got the right answer at last……. remaining from R.S AGARVAL

4. DATA STRUCTURE AND ALGORITHMS:

this part is really screwing,

they will give some programs and asked us to choose the output…..

most of the questions were on STRUCTURES…….

few on TREES, LINKED LIST

time cosuming, so do it as quick as possible…..

5. C OR C++ PAPER

i selected C paper it was easy, most of the questions were on POINTERS, since im from CSE, i felt this paper was easy

i heard C++ was bit tough, they askd questions on iostreams, and inheritence…….

( OTHER BRANCH PPL WILL HAVE LOWER CUTOFF IN 4TH SECTION, FLEXTRONICS MAINLY WANTS E&C , TELECOM PPL, I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO GOT SELECTED FROM CSE BRANCH)

2. TECHNICAL ROUND

bacically there will be 3 round , 2 tech and 1 HR

i had only 2 rounds, in between they asked some HR questions…..

ROUND 1:

- asked abt my project, some C questions, DATA STRUCTURE questions, mainly UNION( be good in this)

- C++ questions like POLYMORPHISM, RUNTIME POLY MORPHISM, INHERITENCE etc

- DATA COMMUNICATION questions like

DIFF BETWEEN IP, UDP, TCP

PROTOCOLS LIKE-> HTTP, SMTP etc

all were abt basic knowledge abt communication…..

- MICROPROCESSOR question like , represent -31 in binary, how will u detemine that a processor is of this much bit( ans:by its data bus capacity)

ROUND 2:

this was easy

- abt SYSTEM SOFTWARE , like basic functions of assemblers, compilers, loaders, linkers

- implement STACK program( very easy)

thats all…………..

3.HR:

for me they asked hr questions in tech rounds itself

they were….

- did u reach to any HR round in any other company?? if s , y did they reject u????

- whats ur expectation from our company???? except salary??

( i told, training, work environment,)

- on what platfrom u want to work??????

(i told development, testing and maintenence)

- any preferred place????

( i said NO sir)

- what r ur CO-CUURICULAR and EXTRA- CURICULAR activities????

thats alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

(FOR PPL FROM OTHER BARNCH BE PREPARED WELL IN DATA STRUCTURE, OPERATING SYSTEM, C , C++ , FOR TECHNICAL ROUND THEY GONNA ASK QUESTIONS IRRESPECTIVE OF UR BRANCH, BUT THEY PREFFER E&C AND TELECOM…… HOW FUNNY U KNOW……!!!!!)

FLEXTRONICS PAPER ON 30th July 2008 AT KOLKATA

Hi Friends.

I have written Flextronics(off campus-freshers) exam on 30-07-06.

The paper was easy and as usual it contains 7 sections.

1.verbal section: Simple Questions like fill the blank with right prepositions,synonims(endeavour,innovative;i managed to remember only these two) and articles.it also contains comprehension passage with five questions.

2.quantative aptitude:

a)in a class of 100 students 60 speak english,40 speak french n 20 speak both.how many of them doesnot speak bot;

the question is not exact but the wordings are similar.they asked three such type questions;

b)questions on 1)only 1st statement is required to solve given equation

2)only 2nd is required

3)both r required

4)none

they gave one equqtion followed by two statements.we have to choose one option.totally 3 questions were asked

c)two cubes of similar type were cut into125 smaller cubes and the cubes at the end centers were removed.And now with the remaining they formed into cuboid which is painted black.

they asked 5 questions based on above like no of cubes have 1 face(2,3,more than 3) painted black etc.

3)Mental ablity round:It is quite easy and contained 10 similar questions.

if * stands for +,/ stands for -,+ stands for / and - stands for *.

4)Data Structures And Operating Systems(20 questions)

if u r thorough with ur subject then u can clear it essily.

they gave code and asked to find the output.question on deleation of queue,insertion of node etc.

questions on graphs

question on post order traversal

which is used to delete the memor allocated by calloc?

what is the runtime of insertion sort inthe best case?

I opted for c.its very easy.if u r thorough with Let Us C n Exploring C then u feel very easy.same questions appeared

FLEXTRONICS PATTERN - APR 2008

Dear Friends,

I want to share my flextronics experience. it was of campus recruitement. only few colloges students were allowed to give the test. among them also they shortlisted the candidates and called for test.

written test was of 90 mins. 7 sections were there as… english grammer(like fill in the blanks, synonyms etc), comprehension, email writing, aptitude,
reasoning, Data structure & c / C++, operating system.

i think there is certain cut off in each section.after each section they were taking the paper and giving the next section. so it was just about speed ,timing and
concentration.

Interview question….(technical)
1) tell about urself.(have a brief intro)
2) explain ur final sem project. i was doing in nationa informatics center.
3) during ur project did face any problems. if how did u solved that.
i think that they got impressed by my project . it took nearly ten min.
4) insert a node in linked list after the given number.
they asked me to write the algo.
5) from o.s. process scheduling and disk scheduling.
i explained two or three scheduling from each.
6) rate urself in C, C++, java
7) windows or LINUX which do you like and why. and some more simple questions.

HR questions
(order i dont remember)
1) tell me abt urself.
2) why do you want to join us.
3) what do you know abt flextronics.
4) about Laloo prasad yadav and nitish kumar since i am from bihar.(this question gone for nearly 5 mins.)
he was satisfied by my answer.
5) any preferable place of joining.
(i said open to all)
and some more questions i dont remember.

one thing i want to say for interview. be positive.
look into the eyes of interviewer and answer him even though he is not looking you. have a confidence. be truthful to urself. and answer exactly to the point .
dont try to be smart.

BIRLA SOFT PAPER ON 28th FEBRUARY

hi frenz!!
i got recruited for birla soft on 28th february,2007..it ws a two day jont campus drive….

first day we had an aptitude test and a group disussion..

the Aptitude test
the apti consisted of 50 questions.. first 20-25 (exactly i don remember)were technical..first three questions were on conversion 4m hexadecimal to octal,binary and…there were ques on dbms as wht is denormalization..,ques on java.c,c++…bt don wry guys…they were simple..

then nxt ws quant..ques on alligation,speed and distance.profit and loss,1q on probability..time and wrk..

next were ques on English…they were pretty simple..choose the wrong sentence,synonyms,and associate the meanings wd d phrases given..

the paper didn take mch time..it was easily completed in an hour..and for the non it/cse students don wry bt the technical part..u tooo……can get thru ds.i too am an ece student…….

the results for aptitude were announced wdin two hours…….so we didn hav to wait mch….. and ha.cutoff for the paper ws arnd 40..

next ws the group discussion round…the topics for the gd were
future of it industry in india
should ganguly be the captain of indian cricket team
shilpa shetty vs jade goody at big brother
love marriagesvs arranged marriages
and there were some abstract topics as wel……

the next day we had a ppt fst and then technical cum hr interview.. they started with simple hr ques…i ws asked to describe my cv..i did.they asked me q on my cv…then being an ece student they asked me abt the communication system…hw does comm happen..i xlnd transmitter,receive nd bla bla..

what are analog and digital signals
advantages of digital over analog……..he asked me to xpln in laymans language..
exmples of where are we using these signals..
itold analog at homes and digital in comp
wht type of signals are used in mobiles..
though i guessed it rt as digital bt he told earlier we were using analog bt nw digital..
some ques on optical fibres,their advantages..
he told me he was satisfied wd my knowledge bt electronics..
and then sm q on c…wt r data structures,wht is block.wht is page statement,explain float……
then i ws asked if i m comfortable wd c…..i told i am…….
then sm hr ques..
hw do u define success,hw many frenz u have,and ur positives…do u read nwspaper….sm budget nws as budget ws out dose daz…and few mr simple hr ques..

we had to 4 the result for about 3-4 hrs…….. and finally i ws selected… out of 1600 students who appeared for the aptitude test 24 were selected…….and i ws one of those….

so guyz..best of luck to ya all……….hope to see u at birla soft…….

hey all…this is saikiran(cse)..i have attended an offcampus of infotech at CMR college of engineering on 29th feb 2008..Some 1000 ppl from 15 colleges attended.The recruitment process consisted of 5 rounds.

1.Written test
50 questions and 50 minutes.this test is pretty simple and time management is very important.It had questions regarding probability,speed and time etc…it also included data interpretation questions and also vocabulary.

2.Technical written test.
20 questions and 25 minutes..very basic questions of c,c++ and java.Some 2 to 3 electronic questions were also asked.

3.group discussion
Thiis is the main elimination round.No one will comprimise here.u need to have good communication and fluency.u need to speak for atleast 2 or 3 times,if u dont put any effort then u will be out of it….jst have confidence in urself…speak abt 3 or 4 sentences …and that will do…my group had abt 12 ppl…and only 4 got thru…i cud make it….

4.Technical interview.
well…if u brush up ur basics that will do a world of good for u.
some of the questions.
what is an absract class??
what is function overloading??
what is a trigger?
what is the difference between data ware house and data mining?
tell me about ur project..
what is the front end and back end of ur project??

5.HR interview.
if u get thru technical interview then this is just a formality.They will ask about ur family back ground and all the other details..

Well…i can tell u one thing thru my experince..there is no substitute for hardwork..just keep working hard and u will come out in flying colors some day…and forgot to tell all of u….i got thru all the rounds and got selected for infotech enterprises…ALL THE BEST FOLKS!!!

5.a no. series is given 8,24,48,54 (not exaxt)find the missing
6.7^71*5^55*11^7 find the no. in units place….
7.an aeroplane delayed by half an hour if it travels at a speed of 250 kmphr more speed than previous to reach destination at the same time then find the original speed. Some q,s included on profit and loss ,trains ,venn diagrams,men and work

B: DATA INTERPRITATION included bar graphs q’s of 10 q’s.

C:verbal of antonyms ,synonyms and comparision words(hook:fish then 4 options of relation above)
D:reading comprehension of 10 q’s. then followed by technical test was simple included core subject and basics of c of about 25 marks.

So friends this was the paper pattern so prepare well and u will succeed.

Hello friends, Iam raghavendra.I have done my B.tech 2007 passout. I have applied for infotech through mail id careers@infotechsw.com.
I got short listed for their written test. Written test was cool.They are testing how fast are u capable of attempting all the sections, .Total time was 50 mins 50 questions.

There was four sections:
Aptitude (30 Q - 30 marks)
Antonyms (5 Q -5 marks)
Reading comprehension ( 10 Q - 10 marks)
Data interpretation (5 Q -5 marks)

Aptitude mainly consists the problems regarding time and work,distance,trains,boats and streams everything was asked easily the matter is how fast are u answering those questions.

Antonyms Reading comprehension where it takes so much time .so you have to do it as fast as possible.
Data interpretation directly from R.S.Agarwal. So you need to spend time on aptitude and comprehension because data interpretation will be directly given u can easily do it.

Totally out of 2000 ,80 got seleted for GD i was shortlisted for Group Discussion (GD)
Each group was divided into 10 -15 students. out of 15 they were taking 5-6. In our group there were 10 members.Our topic was “Education in india should be improved or not” . In our panel everyone was speaking out excellent each and every member had a nice point to discuss.GD went excellent….So out of 10 8 were selected.

Next i was short listed for Technical interview. It was next day after GD.
In technical they were asking question upto 30-45 mins… It was my turn. Mostly he will ask questions from the topics which is there in resume
He started with
Abstract classes (java)
Interfaces (java)
Searching and Sorting techniques mostly bubble sort and binary search ( DS )
Exception Handling (java)
What databases do u know ( oracle,ms-access) if u know any other u can specify
JSP (explanation)
ASP (explanation)
Difference between ASP and JSP
What is pro C ?

it took 20-25 mins for me to complete technical interview. Then short listed candidates will be called for HR and its for formality.
Thats it from me, hope this information may be useful for the guys who attend interviews for infotech.
